When I first arrived in Sweden, the country was covered in snow. I was faced with temperatures of minus 20 degrees. However, having lived in sunny Sydney all my life, I was thrilled to see so much snow! The landscape was almost completely white, leaves on trees were frozen white and bikes were buried under snow.
Uppsala University is a place of many customs and traditions. The university is over 500 years old and is one of the oldest in Scandinavia. A big part of student life here are the nations, there are 13 nations and each of them organise events and have their own club nights each day of the week.
Besides settling into a corridor of 12 people and taking advantage of the events the nations have to offer. I’ve been able to travel quite a bit while I’ve been here over the weekends, so far I’ve been to:
Despite travelling to so many other cities I still believe Sweden is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to.
I can’t wait till summer arrives as I’ve heard this city is breathtaking and the sun doesn’t set till late. I have made many close friends here and mingled with people from all over the world. I have experienced activities I didn’t think I would ever do. For example, ice climbing, crossing the polar circle, arctic swim and etc. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I am looking forward to what is in store for me here over the next few months.
